Went to the new on one in Sleepy Hollow, the service was great. The three salsas just perfect. Each on was better than the next. We also had the steak quesadilla... loaded with steak. (( you definitely get what you're paying for. It came with rice and beans. The beans were good... rice was just ok. We also ordered a side of sour cream and guacamole... with lettuce and tomato. We will definitely!! The first impression was a very nice experience

I wanted to try this restaurant, but reviews made me nervous. My sis liked her huge pina colda. Said she'd come back just for that. She did not like the Pina Rellena de Mariscos Mixtos (Seafood mix and melted cheese in a pineapple we shared) as much--she is not a fish/seafood fan. But I did. Had shrimp and real fish in the rice, It came with fresh salsa, fried tortillas [so yummy], small Ceviche salsa, and crackers. The large horchata drink I got was so small. Had better horchata before, so wont get it here. Server was nice. It's big and wheelchair accessible inside with several moderate sized flat screen TVs. Saw a projector / rolled up screen, maybe for big sports events. Pricer but big portions! Worth sharing, esp seafood fans.

My husband and I went in to check it out since we love Margaritas and ceviche tonight. The margaritas were delicious and so was the ceviche and shrimp and octopus cocktail!! It tastes like an excellent bloody mary mix! We had to check out the margaritas first though! I can only imagine how good the bloody is adding shrimp! The atmosphere was very open and lite. We also had the epinadas, which were awesome! By the time we wanted to order another course, we were stuffed! We ended up ordering steak tacos to go for later... also very good. High recommendation!!!!!

I don't often review Mexican restaurants because they rarely stand apart. The Veracruez cuisine is understandably based on seafood and automatically makes it somewhat unique (except among all Veracruzan-style restaurants. ) They served a fish-studded Pico de Gallo with their tostada shells and I've never seen that so that automatically added a star for me. They also have a mild salsa but when they heard my husband likes hot dishes they brought him a green hot salsa and it was very good. That gesture would add another star. First up were shrimp empanadas. Empanada doughs vary widely in LatinX cuisine and this was not my favorite. Plus I think the fryer wasn't up to temp because they were a bit greasy. Overall they were still pretty good although I have decided I don't like shrimp and cheese together, but that's just me. My husband ordered the Camarones Mega Diablo, good bless him. Not sure if he is just manning up and telling me they weren't THAT hot, or whether I should instead heed his nose blowing. I had Cameron's Razon Langostino. I was glad to see that I didn't have to peel them because I think the menu showed them as having shells on. The plate was complete with a white rice with corn, salad with cucumbers sprinkled with Tanjin, and a nicely grilled bread, as was my husband's. The horchata was delicious and obviously made in house; missing the weird chalky flavor and mouthful of regular foodservice horchata. I would like to give 4.5 stars but alas you can't do it on yelp. I can't give 5 because of a few minor things (including only ice cream for dessert and a rather sportsbar meets SeaWorld vibe.) I would go again.

Updated Review April 23,2022 - first really warm day in April and we knew exactly where we were going after our walk! Islas Veracruz is without doubt one of the best overall restaurants we have found in the northern Chicgo burbs. The variety of seafood and quality of ingredients are always fresh and delicious. The Margarita could be a bit stronger, but the food never fails to delight!! This time we tried our seafood staples of the mixed seafood soup and tostadas mixtas (also mixed seafood) along with the steak tacos. My husband loved the tacos, but I prefer their seafood dishes overall. What we also appreciate is that all those fresh ingredients they serve are not overly seasoned or salty, allowing you to enjoy the food and season to taste with their fresh limes wedges, crazy spicy, but delicious verde, or just eat as is. Highly, highly recommend this place. And the waitress, who communicates well enough to take our order, is very charming and kind. She takes care of us by checking in but isn't that type of waitstaff that comes to your table every 15 minute- we love that!!
